We didn't build SAResponder in a boardroom.
SAResponder was born out of direct operational frustration. Managing crew availability across an active SAR organisation was a constant challenge — WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, and legacy tools that regularly failed. Crew confidence in the system eroded. Compliance suffered.
We looked at what was available. Most platforms were designed for corporate HR, not emergency response. The few that existed for SAR were outdated, expensive, and packed with features that didn't apply to our world.
So we built our own. Starting from the real problems we faced on the water and at the station, SAResponder has grown from a practical tool into a complete operational platform — shaped at every step by people who actually do this work.
17+ years in SAR as a volunteer. 7 years as a full-time trainer and assessor for a major SAR organisation. The operational knowledge behind every feature.
Software engineering background building applications for major brands. Joined the local volunteer lifeboat crew and combined field experience with technical expertise.
"When we looked for software that solved our actual problems, nothing existed. Everything was either too generic, too expensive, or built by people who'd never been on a shout." — Mike, Co-Founder
"Every feature in SAResponder exists because someone in the field needed it. No filler, no unnecessary complexity — just tools that work when lives are on the line." — Phil, Co-Founder
